The scratch for your seven year itch.

An old client who was in the headhunting business called it the “Seven Year Itch.”

I don’t think he made that up, but he’d talk about it all the time.

He claimed that about every seven years you get the itch to move on. To figure out what’s next. To conquer a new mountain.

And it happens to many, many folks who have been successful in the corporate world.

The “itch” gets them.

They get tired of working for others.

They want to quit their job and work on their own terms.

So they can move from the city and live at the top of a mountain.

So that their wives can quit their jobs. (I hear that a lot.)

So they can take time off and travel.

But most who try it, don’t get very far.

They end up scrambling for clients.

They end up working with the wrong clients.

They end up frustrated because they know how good they are, but they can’t seem to communicate that to the clients they can do so much to help.

Many eek out a living by subcontracting back to the company where they used to work.

All of this is because the skills and savvy that got you ahead in the corporate world are vastly different from the skills and savvy that you need to get ahead as an independent consultant.

And the very first thing you need is the ability to talk about what you do in a way that instantly gets the attention and interest of your ideal client.

In a way that makes you instantly stand out.

Instant differentiation.

And that’s what we’ll be doing for a few lucky consultants, coaches and other experts on Thursday, July 10th, 2014.

Hi Dov,

I would really like to stay connected.

Honestly, Dov, I’m 62 and I’ve been in business over 40 years, with LOTS of sales training for financial services and real estate (I was a real estate broker and even taught real estate continuing ed) and your concepts are world-class and deeply refreshing.
