When it happen, it happens fast. (I need to work on these three things myself.)

I’d never heard of Shannon Hansen until last year when he responded to one of my emails called “The struggle breaks many. A few emerge stronger.”

“I agree completely, Dov,” he wrote. “It took me 6 years to break through. But then I went from $5,000 over-drafted in my checking account to over $80k/month in 6 months. When it happens, it happens fast.”

Smelling a good story, I asked Shannon to tell me some more. He replied:

Hey Dov!

I started in business when I was 21. I had a relative amount of success but the business I had was dangerous and exhausting. After 10 years of that my wife and I had our daughter and I decided I wanted out.

So I burned the boats, shut down my business, mortgaged out (and lost) my house, maxed my credit cards, and over-borrowed from all my friends and family in order to ‘make money online’.

Despite having every kind of financial hardship imaginable stacked against me, and everyone around me thinking I was a bit of a fool I kept on. 6 years of utter failure. I was ‘saved by the bell’ so many times in so many ways I can’t even recall. So many times I was at rock bottom with the rent due/overdue when something would happen to just barely allow me to continue.

I met my current business partner about a year and a half ago. This too was to be serendipitous. We were both in some very bad financial situations at the time, but we had what the other needed. With his help I went from $5000 over-drafted at the time (that’s a story in and of itself) to my first $20k month in profit within 60 days. Within 6 months I hit $80k.

It hasn’t always been $80k months from there on out, but I certainly have never looked back. My sights are now set on $500k/mo. I really don’t know how I’ll get there, but my experience shows I don’t need to.

This trip down the Entrepreneurial Highway has been an enlightening one. The things I learned about myself, success, and life in general have been nothing short of amazing.

I’d like to be able to share what I learned with other budding entrepreneurs without becoming a ‘coach.’ I just love building businesses and could see myself doing very little else for the rest of my days here, but I have always felt an obligation to share what I have learned.
